who is sydney?
What’s up with the dog?

Honestly,

when you book with me, you’re signing on for a lifelong friend. nothing brings me more joy than celebrating your milestones with you! i view every person who stands in front of my camera as far more than a business transaction.

I’m sydney, the photographer,
and this is clover, my dog!

Am I taking “girl in her twenties who is obsessed with her dog” to a whole new level? Perhaps. The truth is, when I first sat down to brainstorm what my business might look like, I thought a lot about who I am at my core. In doing so, I realized that the version of me which exists today has only been made possible by the unconditional love and boundless joy my sweet gal, Clover, emulates on the daily. She has taught me to be patient, kind, mindful, and unapologetically me.

My approach

Existing somewhere in that sweet spot between fly-on-the-wall and the JCPenney photographer your parents took you to in the early 2000s. Kind of like if documentary and editorial had a baby. A candid look with a guided approach. I’m big on movement, emotion, and artistry. My purpose as your photographer is far more than to just show up and take the pictures. Breaking down that "I don't know how to act in front of a camera" belief is my primary goal and one of my greatest joys.

My Background

I’m actually a designer by education! Becoming a photographer was always a dream that ran on repeat in my head behind the scenes until I had to privilege of making a few friends in the field who took me under their wing. Prior to starting my own business, I worked as a second photographer at weddings and practiced creative concepts of my own on my friends. Fast forward several years later, and I now not only have my own business, but I’ve been so lucky to become an associate photographer for a couple of amazing humans, which means I get to keep learning and growing!

when I’m not taking pictures…

I’m usually still taking pictures. Open my camera roll and you’ll find pictures of cool plants, trips I’ve been on with my partner, Chris, delicious vegetarian food—especially loaves of bread I’ve made—and of course, Miss Clover. I’m also a classically trained pianist! It’s a bit difficult to photograph while I play, so you’ll just have to take my word for that one.

things I run on:

  • You belong here. The person you love belongs here. This is a space for all humans.

  • Come as you are. I can’t wait to show you how incredible you are as yourself. I take a documentary style approach to my work with a primary goal of highlighting raw, human beauty.

  • Please be unserious with me!

  • I am nothing if not detail-oriented and intentional. You deserve nothing less.

that’s enough about me.
your turn!
